据The official blog of the Microsoft Excel product team的一篇文章：Programmability Improvements in Excel 2010：VBA的新版本——VBA7，将随Office 2010发布，支持能够在32位和64位Office上运行的代码的开发。

The Custom UI Editor has been updated so that it now works with the RTM version of Office 2007 AND the beta version of Office 2010. It also incorporates a few usability improvements.
The main highlights of the tool are:

在Office 2010中，Excel没有像其它主要的应用程序一样作过多的改动，但是增加了一些有用的功能。最重要的被称为“Sparklines（波形图）”——小的单元格大小的图表，能够嵌入到工作表中数据的旁边以获得快速可视化的数据表示。例如，如果有一个追踪许多股票业绩的工作表，那么可以为每支股票创建Sparkline，以图形表示股票随时间的业绩，一种非常简洁的方法。
条件格式——对单元格区域应用格式的功能，然后根据单元格或公式的值使格式变换——也得到了改进，添加了更多的样式和图标。
与其它的Office 2010应用程序一样，Excel有和其它人分享数据的新工具，包括多人同时处理一个文档。
对于商业用户，Microsoft推荐为Excel 2010安装Project Gemini加载宏，可以处理极大数量的数据——甚至包括亿万行的工作表。它将在2010年的上半年作为SQL Server 2008 R2的一部分发布，在2009年下半年其社区技术预览版可使用。
