Privacy Policy

The short version

ExcelPerfect is an AI assistant for spreadsheets. On this website we use privacy-friendly analytics (and only switch on Google Analytics if you accept cookies) and, before launch, collect your email if you join the waitlist. In the app, when you attach a file we process it to answer your questions and make the edits you ask for, then give you a corrected copy. We don’t sell your data or use it to train advertising models, and you can access, export, or delete it at any time.

Who we are

ExcelPerfect (“we”, “us”) operates excelperfect.com and the ExcelPerfect web app, and is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, contact us at [email protected].

Information we collect

• Waitlist email: if you join the pre-launch waitlist, the email address you submit.
• Analytics & device data: if you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics records pages viewed, approximate location, device/browser, and similar usage data. We also use Ahrefs Web Analytics, which is cookieless and aggregate.
• Server logs: our host (Cloudflare) processes technical data such as IP address and request metadata to serve and secure the site.
• Account data (app): your email and name when you register.
• Chat & request content (app): the messages and formulas you send to generate, explain, debug, or convert.
• Uploaded files (app): spreadsheets you attach (.xlsx, .xls, .csv) and any corrected copies, so the assistant can read, edit, and let you download them.
• Billing data (app): handled by Stripe; we never store full card numbers.
• Usage data (app): token counts to enforce monthly plan limits and improve the service.

Cookies & analytics

We do not load any non-essential cookies until you agree. On your first visit a banner lets you Accept or Decline. We use Google Consent Mode, so Google Analytics is set to “denied” by default and its script is only loaded if you accept.

• Google Analytics (consent required): sets cookies named _ga and _ga_<id> (typically expiring after up to 2 years) to measure traffic. Loaded only after you accept.
• Ahrefs Web Analytics (no consent needed): cookieless and aggregate, so it sets no cookies and stores no personal identifiers.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, or by clearing cookies in your browser. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.

Waitlist

If you join the waitlist, we use your email solely to send you a small number of launch-related updates (typically a single email when the app goes live). We don’t sell or share it. You can ask us to remove you at any time by emailing [email protected], and we delete waitlist emails once the launch campaign is complete.

How we use your data & legal bases

Under the GDPR we rely on the following legal bases:

• Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — analytics cookies and waitlist emails. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — to operate your account, answer your requests, edit your files, enforce plan limits, and process payments.
• Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — to secure the service, prevent abuse, and improve the product, balanced against your rights.
• Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — to keep records we’re required to keep (e.g. for tax).

We do not use your content to train third-party advertising models, and your original uploaded file is never modified — every edit is written to a new copy.

Data retention

Conversations are kept in your account until you delete them. Uploaded files and corrected copies are stored temporarily so follow-ups and downloads keep working, then automatically deleted (within 30 days of last use). Waitlist emails are deleted after the launch campaign. Analytics data is retained per the provider’s settings (we keep Google Analytics retention to the minimum practical period). Deleting a conversation or your account removes its data.

Third-party processors

We share data only with trusted providers who process it on our behalf:

• Cloudflare — website hosting, security, and the waitlist storage.
• Google — Google Analytics (only with your consent).
• Ahrefs — cookieless web analytics.
• Stripe — payment processing (app).
• Our AI model provider — to generate results from your requests (app).

Each is bound by its own data-protection terms.

International transfers

Some of these providers operate outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where data is transferred internationally, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

Your rights

If you’re in the EEA or UK, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority. In the app you can export all of your data or delete your account from your account settings; for anything else, email [email protected] and we’ll respond within the time the law requires.

Children

ExcelPerfect is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
